Mrs Gust Hval died after a kerosene can rupture during lighting a stove. Flames burned her clothing as she fled to the McCormick house on Broadway. She died about three hours later in hospital, leaving two small children and a grieving husband. Funeral services were held at Congregational church with interment at Williston cemetery.
North Dakotas new U S battleship known as the American Dreadnought will be launched at Fore River ship yards in November. Possible date is November 10 with Governor Burke of North Dakota to name the sponsor and President Roosevelt not yet invited.
James N. Johnson of Minot was chosen as chairman with E. G. Warner secretary and James A. Buchannan treasurer. An executive committee with representatives from ten districts was formed. The platform endorses Roosevelt, Taft, and Sherman, tariff revision, water improvements, forestry and irrigation, and anti injunctions in labor disputes.
The body of Capt. Small, who fell from his ferry boat into the Buford river last spring, was found on a sand bar opposite Jones' cut. Coroner Thomas notified McKenzie county coroner and he directed transfer. Capt. Small’s remains, identified by Capt. Bailey, were brought to the city and sent to Ben Hoover in Gettesburg, S C, for burial in Williston cemetery. funeral services will be held.

President Louis W. Hill of the Great Northern announces no change in the depot site. The new depot will be built where the old one stands or very near it, with the chief engineer deeming the present location best for both the railroad and the town.

Separator burned Wednesday near noon at the Hopking home while Anthoney Hopkins threshing. Engine sparked straw blaze that consumed the separator and two wagons loaded with grain. The machine, nearly new, was a heavy loss as Hopkins began a promising season.
National Committee man James Kennedy calls a meeting in Williston for tomorrow with most Republican nominees for state officers and district posts expected to attend. He invites all editors in the district to join the gathering.
Frank Clements a thresher was robbed and slashed by two companions near a hay stack in Devils Lake on Saturday night. He was taken to Merry hospital with a deep neck wound needing about twenty stitches. The attackers escaped after stealing 36 dollars. News notes also cite rich crop yields in Williams county with figures for cate, wheat, and oats from several farms.
