North Dakota Governor E C D Shortridge Founder and Leader
E C D Shortridge, North Dakota’s third governor, was born in Virginia on March 29, 1830. He moved to Dakota in 1882, settled as a farmer in Grand Forks County, led the Farmers Alliance, and won the governorship in 1892. He died in early 1908 at Devils Lake after a long career in public service.
