Messrs. Schlenker and Oveson opened a new bowling alley to standing room only. Mayor Wegley and E. C. Carney led openings on alleys one and two, with Mrs. Dochtermah bowling the ladies alley. An exhibition match and refreshments followed.
The Ladies Guild of the Episcopal Church will hold a cooked food sale on Saturday October 12 at the Williston Grocery Company store. Items will be on sale at 1 PM to help with Sunday dinner preparations.
The Williston Commercial Club passes resolutions deploring violence tied to the Great Northern Boiler Makers strike. It urges citizens to condemn assaults and asks the mayor to hire extra police to prevent further incidents.
The Commercial Club of Williston issues resolutions to protect lives and property of Williston residents and Great Northern Railway workers. They order minutes updated and copies sent to newspapers, the Boiler Makers' Union, and Great Northern officials. Dated Williston N D October 3 1907.
The Williston High School football squad travels to Minot Saturday hoping to defeat the Minot team. The boys have not been organized long but are working hard and expect a good performance.
McKenzie County’s first term of court convened at Schafer under Judge Winchester. Key cases include horse stealing charges against Bob Miller and Asa Cox, a hold up case against Bert Martin and Tom Taylor, and the county seat dispute between Schafer and Alexander. Local attorneys T. S. Becker A J Bessie and Edwin A. Palmer attend. George Baker of Bakers Ferry visited.
A Williston posse chased two youths Bert Martin and Tom Taylor after a Russian family near Stone house was said killed and robbed. A shot horse halted pursuit and later reports found no injuries or deaths. The pair were jailed in Schafer and face district court with defense by Attorney Dwyer.
The Chicago Glee Club starts the Citizens Entertainment series at Gates Opera House on October 29. A male quartet renowned since 1899, they offer varied programs with quartets, trombone quartets, character pieces, and solos. Season tickets are $2.50 with six entertainments. single tickets 75 cents.
Carl Brothen and Miss Randi Hallum, both of Columbus, were united in matrimony in Columbus on Friday evening. The ceremony was performed by Rev. M. L. Haley in the Hotel Columbia.
Three criminals blew the Spare Bank vault in Churchs Ferry North Dakota and stole between 5000 and 6000 dollars before escaping under darkness. A posse searched the area at dawn but failed to catch the robbers. A local gunfire exchange occurred as residents tried to halt the raid. The incident marks the largest single haul this fall and contributes to over 10000 dollars taken by safe blowers in four days.
