Roosevelt Addresses Way Dedication of McKinley Mausoleum
In Can ton Ohio on Oct 1 a large crowd attended the ceremony dedicating the McKinley mausoleum with President Roosevelt among speakers including Gov. Harris Judge Day and the crowd lining parade routes. The mausoleum rises 98 feet 6 inches, features a 15 foot 2 inch diameter oculus, interior mosaics and a central sarcophagus for President and Mrs McKinley and the two daughters. A heroic bronze statue of McKinley stands near the main entrance with a dedicatory inscription praising the late president.
