Republican Rally Draws Large Crowds in Williston

A Tuesday night Republican rally in Williston drew a crowded court room with standing room. Speakers Gen E A Williams Hon H R Turner and Frank Chapman highlighted state progress, GOP leadership and budget savings while music from the Williston band and a solo by R Evans complemented the event.

Band Concert Great Success in Williston

The Williston concert band, with Mrs. B. L. Hardaway assisting, delivered a fine Monday evening performance. The show raised about $90, praised Pro f. Onstad for bandwork, and featured cornet soloist C. Edwin Davis, who impressed with tone quality. Hardaway sang one verse due to a cold, and a stronger program is planned for the end of the month.

F. McAvoy longtime G N depot employee resigns to start his own grocery business in this city. He has taken steps to establish the new enterprise and will likely begin operating shortly.

Willis ton Newsnotes on Nelsons business changes

The grocery stock purchased by Emil Nelson is moved into rooms previously used by Nelsons jewelry store. Nelson shifts to the south half of the building to build an addition. McAvoy should receive strong local support as the community wishes him success.

Irrigation Work Progress on Williston Project Ditches and Reservoir

Contractors Delaney and Penson push ditching near the city with about forty teams and a crew of men. If favorable weather continues for two to four weeks, two-thirds of the promised work will be completed by June and seventy-two miles of laterals and drains will be finished next summer. The large reservoir south of the depot nears completion after piling is done, and the Williston project progresses smoothly with power house machinery to be installed this winter.

Hand Caught in Pulley on Steamboat Dock

Gus eet, employed on the steamboat O K, had his right hand caught Friday in a unloading pulley at the dock. Four fingers nearly torn off, first finger amputated at the second joint. Taken to Frances hospital. Johnson guided rope, injuries extended to shoulder.
