Celebration at Squires Honors Norwegian Day Event

Festivities at Squires on Saturday May 16 featured Williston band music and address by A. J. Staine. Van R. Brown and H. T. Helgeson spoke as ball games, horse and foot races, and a bowery dance followed. A large turnout and many candidates marked the day’s events.

Schafer Town Builds Rapidly Rising Court House

McKenzie county citizens report Schafer moved fast to establish a court house and grounds within hours on May 11. Town proprietor Schafer donated lots, a warrant paid for the building, and the project was completed by five in the morning. If valid, state law may prevent moving the county seat for ten years unless a two thirds vote is achieved.

Norwegian Independence Day Celebration at Williston

Norwegians marked independence day at the Williston courthouse on Monday evening. The program featured music by the Williston concert band, addresses by local officials and clergy, audience singing of the Norwegian national air, choir songs, and a male quartet selection.

Williston Concert Band Pleases Gates Opera House Crowd

The Williston Concert Band gave a well received performance last Friday at Gates Opera House with Mrs. B L Hardaway and a duet by Mrs. Hardaway and H R Evans praised. The group, though financially strained by about 450 dollars, appeals to citizens to support this musical asset and retainleader Prof Onstad.
