The notice outlines advertising costs: fifteen cents per inch per insertion unless a yearly contract of 1200 inches. A reduced twelve and a half cents per inch for contracts of 1 inch or more per year. Want ads cost one cent per inch.
The firm Palmer Craven Burns opens with offices in Williston and Tioga. Edwin A. Palmer and Thos F Craven supervise the Williston office while T F Burns handles the Tioga end. All three have served as state attorney in Minnesota and bring extensive trial experience. The practice will be known as Palmer Craven Burns.
The third annual report from the Williston sub-station lists 1908 to 1910 average yields for wheat oats barley emmer and potatoes. Notable figures include Power's fife wheat 214 bushels blue stem 21 oats silver mine 52 Siberian White 48 Lincoln 48 barley Minnesota No 6 27 emmer 27. Potato depth tests 4 inches yielded 874 bushels and nine inches apart in rows three feet apart yielded 116 bushels. Straw-grown potatoes 116 bushels four inches deep. Irrigation trials show interesting results and moisture tests to six feet deep indicate least moisture in spring plowed land. Bulletin available from Agricultural College Fargo.
Bromberg appointed J C Bromberg as special officer to act as pound keeper and handle funds. He will enforce dog duties and oversee bonds. Agricultural advice urges straw spread and stable manure to prevent wind erosion, with timing after seeding and attention to weeds. Techniques include thin straw layers and occasional furrows to limit crop loss during windy conditions.
