Government figures from the crop reporting board show the March 1 1909 wheat on hand at 21.6 percent of last year’s crop, about 143,692,000 bushels, down from 23.5 percent in 1908 and 24.6 percent ten year average. About 59.2 percent of the crop will be shipped from counties of origin, up from 58.0 percent in 1908 and 56.6 percent ten year average.

Lost Boy Found After Ransom Paid in Cleveland
Little Willie Whitin, snatched from Sharon last Thursday, was returned to his father at the Hollenden hotel Cleveland at 8 30 pm after an agreed ransom arrangement. Two local boys identified him on a street car and delivered him to his waiting parent. The boy showed nerves and anxiety in the hotel lobby as detectives urged patience while the kidnapers and the hidden handler woman remained unconfirmed by police.

Kidnapped Boy Reunited After Cleveland Hotel Rescue
Willie Whitla, snatched from Sharon, Ohio, was found safe after a long, disguisesfilled ride with a man in a black mustache. He described a trek from Sharon to Warren and to Cleveland's Hollenden hotel before his father, Whitla Sr., finally retrieved him. The parent traveled alone, paid no ransom publicly, and planned a secret meeting with detectives.
County Board to Provide Seed Grain for Farmers in Need
In a special session the county board of commissioners approved plans to furnish seed grain to farmers unable to buy grain. Bismarck N C March 20 Governor Burke vetoed the bill creating a single board of control for charitable penal and reformatory institutions saying it was not properly formed. The measure had been hailed as a reform and may return in two years. Burke also vetoed a bill for a legislative drafting bureau to draft and vet bills before presentation.
