New State Oklahoma Admitted by Senate Vote
Last Saturday afternoon the U S senate passed a bill admitting a new state named Oklahoma from the combined Oklahoma and Indian Territory. The house joint state bill had Arizona and New Mexico provisions struck out after a close senate vote of 87 to 35. Admission adds a star to the flag and requires new flags for the next Independence Day.
