Vanderbilts Attacked in Italian Village Incident
In Ponte dera, Florence, Feb. 26, W K Van derbilt Jr drew a revolver when mob attacked his auto party after a child was injured by the car. He was disarmed and beaten until gendarmes rescued and arrested him. Mrs Vanderbilt remained at a hotel as the affair drew police attention.

Lost Life at Lisbon Pumping Station
Nathaniel H. Rhodes, veteran engineer in charge of Lisbon pumping station, was fatally injured when caught in the belting on the main shaft of the gasoline engine driving the pump. He died en route to the hospital after the accident, witnessed by a bystander in the engine room.
