Farmers Institute Seminar Teaches Sheep Rape Rotation

The Farmers Institute held Monday and Tuesday drew fewer farmers than hoped because of busy seasons. T A Hoverstad and professors Shaw and Elliott led sessions on grain farming and farm management with advice on raising sheep. They proposed growing rape on forty to fifty acres to fatten lambs for sale, noting $1000 to $1200 summer profits. next year organizers hope to hold the event in February.

A Monday evening reception in the county court room honored school teachers from this and McKenzie counties attending a teachers institute. E C Carney gave the welcome as Commercial club president, with replies from Mr Bolstad and Miss Taylor. Attorny Palmer E R Brownson and Supt Elli thorpe spoke after Apollo club performances, followed by ice cream and cake.

Glee Club to Visit Willi by Scandinavian Students

Zion Church Literary Club plans inviting the Scandinavian Students Glee Club of the Wisconsin University to Willi during their Pacific Coast trip in late August. The program will feature Old Folks masterpieces of Norway and American works. Twenty male voices and violinist Prof. E G Ehlman of Milwaukee will perform in a vocal and instrumental program expected to draw a large turnout.

Two Hail Storms West of City Reported

Two hail storms west of the city last week damaged property and killed two pigs on the Mansfield farm. The Friday storm struck six miles west with large stones breaking many south and west windows. A second storm hit Mondak Saturday evening, shattering windows in much of town and leaving streets looking deserted by Sunday. Insurance agents have been busy issuing hail insurance policies.

Williston City Council Orders New Sidewalk On Second Street

The Williston North Dakota city council by resolution orders a cement sidewalk on both sides of Second Street from the west end between blocks 23 and 24 to the east end of blocks 23 and 25. The notice lists the affected lots and requires property owners to bear the expense with work to begin within three years from May 20 1907.

Max Burkowsky of Squires North Dakota reports a six year old bay mare with harness, branded H on the right hip, weight about 1300 pounds. The horse strayed from sw 1-4 sec 24 two on Sunday June 2 and the owner promises charges will be paid for recovery.
