Opportunity Week Contest Ends Tuesday June 16
The final days of the Opportunity Week contest urge voters to act before Tuesday afternoon when the contest closes and four pianos will go to top candidates. Mrs Borsheim led with a 740 375 vote weekly gain, the largest that week, as winners included Mrs Uhlman Mrs Siewert and Miss Almyra Musick. Remarkably both Mrs Borsheim and Mrs Siewert reached exactly 1 471 859 votes.

Body of murdered man found near Nelson landing
Ferrymen George Woods and Ralph Draggo discovered a large young man’s body floating near the Nelson landing Sunday morning about nine. Coroner Distad held a post mortem. bullets pierced the breast and left lung, likely a 32 caliber. Clothing and teeth offered clues. no identification found beyond dental engravings and a beer bottle opener marked Rex Duluth Beer. Coroner’s jury ruled death by unknown shooter. Also notes death of George Wallet of Oroville, a Spanish American War veteran, at age 84.

The commencement exercises will be held Friday night June 12 at the Orpheum Theatre. A Tuesday meeting at Stady drew a large crowd to back the Williston and Northern electric line. President Brown chaired as Overson Bergman Field and local farmers spoke. Surveyor Field said twenty miles of survey completed west of Zab lakes with a favorable grade toward West by and a possible two branch lines to Howard county and Plumer Crosby territory.
