C. M. Ragsdale a Great Northern brakeman was arrested on charges of robbing two men aboard a freight train between here and Minot. He was held on $500 bonds in two cases and bound over to district court after hearings. The state contends he held up Thomas Law with a revolver and took a watch and jack knife, while defense claims a frame up linked to a separate incident involving a shoe found watch. Rio de Janeiro
A rare rain event drenched the region yesterday and last night, dumping an inch and a half in just over an hour and reaching two and one tenth inches by morning. The storm extended east and north over a wide area, with lighter rain still falling today. In Ray the rainfall was intense enough to float a steel water tank, while Trenton saw little rain. A Dorcas Society parcel shower for Miss Marie Vick featured unique games and a luncheon in the Lutheran church basement.

Members of the local fire department plan to travel Sunday to Lisbon for a gathering scheduled for the 9th and 10th of the month. The trip aims to represent the department at the event and participate in sessions and demonstrations.
Los Angeles June 2 A withdrawal order by which William H Taft while president in 1909 exempted from entry government lands in California valued between 250 million and 1 billion was ruled invalid by Judge Maurice T Dooling of the San Francisco district court. Dooling dismissed the suit and said the withdrawals sought to suspend mineral laws and concentration of executive power exceeds constitutional grants. The order gave Midway Oil Co and Standard Oil Co undisputed possession of the land and denied a request for a receiver. Similar actions will be affected.

Members of the band entertained directors and friends at a Sunday picnic at Wilson's grove. Stice & Jensen provided fourteen new Maxwell cars to transport the party to the grounds. After a brief Main Street performance, guests traveled to the picnic, enjoyed a fine lunch, and returned home in the evening.

Henry Lindvig of Wilbur township and Miss Sadie Greenwood of Stroud were married Wednesday at the Great Northern hotel with a ring ceremony performed by Rev. E. Lewis Wall. The couple will reside in McKenzie county and host an open church affair for Wilton residents. Painting and varnishing finishes and concrete steps are in progress. further details to follow.
Congregational church officers plan a formal opening for inspection with Ladle Aid. A basement kitchen and dining room shower will be held with the entire church open for guests. Mr. Charles Levitt and Miss Mary Hell, both of Williston, were united in marriage at the Congregational parsonage by Rev. E. Shaw on Wednesday evening. The ceremony was quiet with only close friends and relatives present. The couple will reside in the city and carry with them wishes from many friends.
The Williston Concert Band offers a dancing party at the Armory tonight with the large band providing music for an enjoyable evening.
The Empress sank in about ten minutes after a collision off Point Quebec in the gulf of St Lawrence. The Storstad and other government steamers aided in rescue, with 400 survivors brought to Rimouski aboard Lady Evelyn and Eureka. Further details and totals were unclear as reports continued.
