Correspondence on Agricultural College Summer Institute Tour

Supt Hoverstad and staff of speakers travel for a summer institute tour aimed at regions west of the Missouri river. The college Y M C A will send six delegates to the Geneva Wisconsin national convention each summer. State Secretary Leagitt coordinated the trip amid strong member enthusiasm. Commencement events ran June 5 to 9 with concert and baccalaureate Sunday June 7 and a senior class program June 8.

Local Residents Gather at Gamache Ranch Amid Storms

Septum and Halverson families hosted at Ga machie ranch near Wheelock as a heavy rain hail and thunderstorm swept the vicinity Friday afternoon. Several steamboats have been passing up the river recently. A horse was lost to lightning Friday afternoon. Gamache family visited Hall homestead Sunday. Knutson of McKenzie county vacationed across the river last week. Adams and Burke worked at the Adams ranch this week handling horses. A Friday night dance suffered poor attendance due to bad weather. A runaway incident involving Miss Jacobson and Gamache children occurred on a hill returning from school. the buggy was damaged but all occupants escaped with minor injuries. Dr. Hagen visited en route to Hofillund last week.

SQUIRES Knute Sande finished breaking for Emil Lee Wednesday. Tom Olstad was a Williston visitor Thursday and Friday. Rose Carroll and Clark Lohr called at the Halverson home Thursday evening. Antone and Lewis Rygg and Harry and Elmer Halverson took supper with Chas. Bergstrom Thursday evening. C. Olderness, Emil Lee, W. J. and H. A. Squires and Knute Sande were Williston notables Friday. J. O. Halverson and family came from Williston Friday to spend a week on the farm. J. O. is writing hail insurance while here. The Ladies Aid met with Mrs. Grothe Sunday. A large crowd attended, A. H. Rygg and Chas. Bergstrom were Williston visitors Monday and Tuesday. H. H. Rygg visits his son H. A. A fourteen month old daughter of William Soboski drowned Monday in a slew. O. O. Solberg elected director and C. O. Hanglin treasurer at the school election Tuesday.

Valley City notes junior banquet and exams

The junior banquet for seniors is set for Monday evening June 8 at the Hotel Bridged with class color decorations. Memorial Day was observed as a legal holiday with school exercises and a stirring address by Senator McCumber. Final exams run from June 6 to June 17, and geography classes studied irrigation in North Dakota and the West while manual training and physics work display projects. Pres McFarland and VP Hollis were absent to deliver commencements.
