John Mabin aged fifty was found dead in his bed at his home in Minot. A bottle of laudanum was found on the premises. He had a habit of taking small doses and a larger dose yesterday may have caused his death. He was last seen alive at 5 20 am and found at 7 30 pm. He is survived by a widow and several children.
Agricultural note advises farmers to spray mustard and king head only after weeds reach four to five leaves or eight to ten inches high. Warns against premature spraying and favors sunny weather for two days after application. Recommend spraying when grain and mustard are equal height and mornings over afternoons.
Lan L. Eggleston of Minot wed Ida Liddon of Ray at 3 p m May 27 in the Congregational parsonage with Rev. Henness officiating. Jonathan Higeley wed Marion Edwards of Schafer at 7 p m May 27 with Rev. Henness officiating.

The body of George Zeglin, shot in Ambrose last week, arrived with coroner G. M. Thomas and was buried in Williston cemetery after his brother from Minneapolis arrived. The coroner’s inquest returned a verdict of death by gunshot from parties unknown. Zeglin, nicknamed Dutch and Bloody Knife, was described as a bad man with a Montana horse theft record. he left home about nine years ago, leaving a father, mother, three sisters, and two brothers.
Will T. Poe, a candidate for county treasurer, visited Tioga to assess local political conditions. A familiar figure in Williston, Poe has served in multiple trusted posts, including city auditor, and would dedicate full time to the treasurer role if elected.
At Gates Opera House last Friday evening Williston High School held commencement exercises. The class motto Quality not Quantity guided a brief but thoughtful program. Graduates named were Bertha Deriger Ivan Metzger Robert Porter and George Shafer. Music featured Prof Onstad and soloists Miss Monroe Miss Anderson Mr McKay and the Seeley sisters. Diplomas were conferred by Mr Greene president of the School Board.
In Bismarck on June 1 Judge Winchester sustained Secretary of State Blaisdell in his action against Standard Oil Co. ruling the writ of certiorari unnecessary and upholding the secretary's procedure. The company’s counsel planned an immediate appeal to the supreme court to certify the secretary's record.
Word reached the city early this week of a Crosby area accident that killed a man named Amerson. He was fatally injured by a steam plow during work near Crosby.
