Laudanum kills Minot citizen in suspected accidental death

John Mabin aged fifty was found dead in his bed at his home in Minot. A bottle of laudanum was found on the premises. He had a habit of taking small doses and a larger dose yesterday may have caused his death. He was last seen alive at 5 20 am and found at 7 30 pm. He is survived by a widow and several children.

Best Time to Spray Weeds Warns Farmers in 1908

Agricultural note advises farmers to spray mustard and king head only after weeds reach four to five leaves or eight to ten inches high. Burial of George Zeglin After Ambrose Shooting

The body of George Zeglin, shot in Ambrose last week, arrived with coroner G. M. Thomas and was buried in Williston cemetery after his brother from Minneapolis arrived. The coroner’s inquest returned a verdict of death by gunshot from parties unknown. Zeglin, nicknamed Dutch and Bloody Knife, was described as a bad man with a Montana horse theft record. he left home about nine years ago, leaving a father, mother, three sisters, and two brothers.

Williston High graduates at Gates Opera House

At Gates Opera House last Friday evening Williston High School held commencement exercises. The class motto Quality not Quantity guided a brief but thoughtful program. Graduates named were Bertha Deriger Ivan Metzger Robert Porter and George Shafer. Music featured Prof Onstad and soloists Miss Monroe Miss Anderson Mr McKay and the Seeley sisters. Diplomas were conferred by Mr Greene president of the School Board.
