A heavy rain fell Saturday Sunday and Monday. A Williston teachers examination attracted local attendance. Mrs M C Wartenbe's sister, visiting, left for Ohio Friday. Memorial services at Hoffland church were canceled due to rain. Mrs Baker of California, mother of Mrs Frank Davis of Grinnell, traveled through Nelson Monday. Mr Higgins, a southern merchant, delivered goods for his store. Mrs John McKay and son Wills were seen shopping in Wheelock Saturday. The deputy sheriff checked witnesses Monday.

Clarence Kauffman’s bay horse frightened on a hill near Trenton, throwing him and Rufus Cripe off. the buggy was demolished. Rufus sprained an arm. Clarence escaped with only a lost hat. Carden Valley School Ends Term With Farewell Party
The term of school closed successfully at Card en Valley with Miss Guthrie planning summer work on her claim at Study. A school election took place at the Arnt school house last Tuesday amid a lighter Literary due to rain. An Astonisher by Charley West and Miss Inga Hval impressed attendees, and Miss Guthrie's farewell party followed on Monday night with games lasting late.
