Williston Chautauqua Opens Five Day Program

The Williston Chautauqua opens Friday at 2 30 with Maryland Players and Singers performing old melodies. Judge Schoonover of the Appellate Court of Kan sas will lecture on Unseen Forces at 8. Hawaiian Quintet, Clarence Locke Miller, Cy clone Davis, and University Players also appear with Reuben in Rome and Mary Magdalene. Season tickets cost 2 50, children 1, and a year end pageant is free.

Guaranty Fund Commission Moves to Finance Act Operations

The Depositors Guaranty Fund Commission met to implement the act despite no appropriation. Members will advance funds themselves and seek reimbursement from the next legislature. Governor Frazier will chair, J R Waters serves as secretary, with O S Hanson J E Hanson B J Schoregge. Banks may pay up to 6 percent on time deposits until further notice, and no bank may advertise guaranteed deposits without a certificate.

Cornerstone Laying Set for New Catholic Church Sunday

Rev. R E P ONeill pastor of St. Josephs church announces Sunday at 4 pm the cornerstone ceremony for the new church edifice with several local clergymen assisting. Bishop unable to attend. John Heffernan to furnish the bell in memory of his late wife, a congregant. The cornerstone will hold church records and local publications. Public invited. interior furnishings to be completed later.

Draft Drawings Set For Tomorrow In Washington

Washington on July 19 reports the draft numbers will be drawn at 9:30 A M in the senate committee room. Three hundred boards will be told to call 200 percent of their quota at first call to cover exemptions, with about 1 974 000 men notified to appear for examination in a few days.

Williston Elks Meet United Commercials In Baseball Clash

Williston hosts a charity baseball game Saturday night between the Williston Elks and United Commercial travelers. Admission is 25 cents for patriotic causes aiding Company E gear. Lineups include Theodore Settle and Joe Cutting for the Elks and A J Christopher and Hank Johnson for the Commercials. No umpire has been secured as several declined the role. Weather reports predict heat and farming prospects depend on rain.

Officer Dr T J Strong Joins Company E In Reserve

Dr T J Strong of ste vity commissioned as First Lieutenant in the US Army Reserve Corps and on duty examining recruits and taking sick calls for Company E. He refused National Guard, may be called anywhere on five days notice. Company E has 125 personnel, no new orders beyond a 15 day stay. Enlisted names listed. Five squads scrimaging territory for additional guards. Watford City town reports many soldiers.

Williston hosts Grand Lodge meeting of Knights of Pythias

Williston will host the Grand Lodge meeting of the North Dakota Knights of Pythias next Wednesday and Thursday with a full program of addresses, committee reports, social events, a ball game, and a dramatized rank conferring at the Armory. Recruit trips by Company E boost local war strength as Watford City sends the largest local contingent.
