Hedderich Will Case Postponed

The Hedderich will case returned to court before Judge Goss on Saturday afternoon. Attorneys for Mrs. Hedderich sought judgment filling in undecided jury points and asked for a ruling on agreed and disputed evidence. Attorneys for the Indian requested time to answer. both sides were set to submit further pleadings by Saturday and the case to be resumed next Saturday.

Wegley Suit Case Ended in District Court

Tuesday morning in District Court the case of Ocer Webb vs Jos Wegley ended with a directed verdict for Wegley after the plaintiff refused to introduce evidence. The matter drew attention due to Wegley's mayoral position and the plaintiff's claim of malicious prosecution and false imprisonment. Attorneys A J Bessie and Wolf represented the plaintiff. E A Palmer, Geo Gilmore and John Green defended Wegley.

Jury Disagrees in Metzger v Gordon Basement Case

In district court on Tuesday a jury of ten heard G B Metzger seek possession of the basement used as a barber shop and bathroom by Prof Gordon. Gordon says he has another years use via an agreement, Metzger denies it. After an overnight deliberation the jury failed to agree and was dismissed. Metzger was represented by Knauf. Gordon by E A Palmer and Greenleaf & Fisk.

James Murphy Held on Extortion Charge in Local Hearing

James Murphy was arrested recently on criminal extortion charges and appeared before Justice Mitchell earlier this week. Bound over to district court for trial with a $250 bond, he was released on his own recognizance after allegedly threatening Hans Anderson to demand $30 to avoid arrest.

Sled Theft Threat Over Unclaimed Belongings

A boy named Anderson unloaded a bob sled from a car near the tracks. When he returned for it another sled remained, leading him to believe it was mis taken. He took the remaining sled and told the yard man his address. Murphy later claimed the sled, threatened arrest unless thirty dollars was paid.

Bishop Mann to visit Williston on Sunday

The Rt. Rev. Cameron Mann, Bishop of the Episcopal Church in North Dakota, will visit Williston on Sunday July 21. Two services are planned at 11:00 AM and 4:30 PM with confirmation at the morning service. The Ladies Guild hosts a reception Saturday at 8:30 PM for attendees to meet the bishop and Rev. Elton, who has recently taken charge.

Hill’s Party Visits Williston From Great Northern

President L W Hill of the Great Northern and party including Vice President F H McGuigan General Manager Ward Purchasing Agent S B Plecher Chief Engineer A H Hogeland with secretaries Walton Manthe and Pell were in the city last Friday. They reviewed proposed sites for the freight depot extension the new ice house improvements for the round house and the right of way for new tracks and the new depot. The party then traveled west to show the new vice president over the road.

The Williston boys baseball team defeated Buford 7 to 3 on the Buford diamond in a lively Sunday game. Williston secured the win with strong bats and solid defense, delivering a clear triumph.

Buford Township Case Goes to Trial After Ruling

Judge Goss Saturday night overruled a demurrer in the Buford townsite case. Arguments were heard Wednesday afternoon, with no decision until Saturday. The complaint is sufficient to go to trial, naming the county judge and all lot owners as defendants for improper publication and notices. Trial likely this term.

Noxious Weeds Must Be Killed Notice to Williams County Farms

Notice to all property owners in Williams county to destroy noxious weeds by August 1 1907 under Article 5086 revised code 1905. Weeds listed include Canadian thistle Cocklebur Mustard Wild oats French weed and Russian cactus. Destruction by plowing or cutting and burning. fines apply for roadside weed dumping. Chairman W D Parshall and Board of County Commissioners will tax charges to property if not complied.
