Williston Storm Blasts City With Heavy Winds and Damaging Hail

A Saturday night wind storm described as hurricane strength struck Williston. Dozens injured, one, John Arnstad, died after the event. Buildings were toppled, chimneys broke, rain flooded interiors, and significant property damage totaling about thirty to thirty five thousand dollars was reported.

Farm Committee Here Tomorrow

Secretary Jackson of the Commercial Club reports a letter from Prof. Shephard of the N D A C stating the committee to locate the Williston Experimental farm will be here on Friday the 26th if not prevented. The panel includes Prof. Shephard Prof. Waldron Prof. Linfield and M S Costello. A meeting will be held in the courthouse tomorrow evening with music and speaking. Farmers may hear Prof Linfield discuss irrigation farming.

Sharp Buys Bakery From Martin and Lares

E. A. Sharp, already supplying ice cream to the city for two years, acquired the Williston Bakery from Martin and Lares in a deal completed early this week. He plans to operate a first class bakery offering high quality eats at all times.

Aid for the storm sufferers

A Commercial Club meeting voted to allocate 200 dollars for immediate needs of storm victims left homeless by Saturday night. Reverend Henness Reverend Hollett and R M Galderwood were named a three member committee to oversee relief and report further money if needed.

Pierson Sues Sheriff Over Tax Costs Ruling

Pierson filed suit in district court against the county sheriff after a prior Pierson Beck er suit. Justice Poe ruled for Pierson on his head of family exemption, but the district court later favored the sheriff, taxing costs of 150.35 against Pierson. The sheriff levied on Piersons bank account for the amount.

Heavy hail storm and rain sweep western county

A Monday night hail storm pounded Wheelock and nearby areas with hail thick enough to scoop in dishes. Reported tornado near Mormon brought little wind but very heavy rain. The downpour is said to benefit late crops as the western part of the state receives the rainfall.

Birthday Party Honors Janice McAvoy Third Year

Last Thursday marked Janice McAvoy’s third birthday with a party for about 30 children and their mothers. Lively games and dainty refreshments filled the event, with Mrs. Bayrell winning a handsome souvenir spoon in a grownups contest.

Insurance settles school storm damages for 757 dollars

New York Underwriters agent O Young settled with the school board for storm damages to the school building. Two contractors provided estimates and the final contract was let for 757.19 dollars. Judge Leon Hardy is praised for arranging hurricane insurance and acting quickly after the storm.
