Williston Fourth of July Parade and Races Impress Crowd

A record crowd greeted Williston on the Fourth with a parade from the courthouse to the square led by Marshall Fred Hildreth and the Concert band. The Canton and many floats followed amid races, a ball game, and a rain-delayed fireworks plan.

Lawn Tennis Club Forms as Courts Near Ready

Enthusiasts have prepared tennis grounds in the northeast city section with sod removed and grounds rolled. Back nets 100 by 10 feet and other improvements are in place. Prospective members may leave names with Cashier Schoregge at the First National Bank or W B Overson of Williston Land Company or at the Graphic office. Courts expected ready by early next week.

John F. Henry Weds Clara Zimmerman at Dover Home

John Henry returned from Dover Minnesota with a bride after a surprise marriage. A ceremony took place at two o clock Wednesday afternoon June 26 1907 at the bride’s parents home near Dover. The Rev I B Wood performed the rites as the couple began their life together in Williston North Dakota.

Dover Couple Wed In Simple Blue Silk Ceremony

The bride wore a blue silk costume in a simple, pretty style and a wedding supper followed. Both are well known in Dover and nearby. the bride is beloved by many friends and the groom, son of J. P. Henry, now residing in Williston, North Dakota. After visiting relatives, they plan to make Williston their home with best wishes from friends for a joyful life.

Teams Split Weekend Games in Minot

Williston and Minot each won one game in Minot over the weekend. Williston won the first game 6 to 4 while Minot scored four runs in the second game. Umpiring by Thompson drew criticism from Minot supporters and a new umpire was assigned amid protests.

Hedderich Will Case Ends in Hung Jury

The Hedderich will case jury discharged by Judge Goss after failing to agree on the Indian calling himself Gus Hedderich. They found the will valid and sanity established but split seven to five on unresolved points. The case will be resumed this term with Mrs. Hedderich’s attorneys seeking a verdict.

Mayor Schmitz Is Sentenced Five Years In Penitentiary

San Francisco July 8 Mayor Eugene Schmitz convicted of extortion was sentenced to five years in the penitentiary. The court room erupted in applause from hundreds of onlookers as Judge Dunne spoke.
