Williston Takes Two From Minot in Classic Series

The Williston Orioles rallied to defeat Minot in a two game set highlighted by a scoreless eleven innings. Arthur Johnson pitched well for Minot and Moses anchored the defense as both sides produced sensational plays. Bruegger scored on a misthrow in the twelfth to seal the dramatic victory.

Three Hundred Attend North Dakota Historical Meet

Wahpeton hosts the third annual State Historical Society gathering with over 300 visiting delegates. Leading figures include Supt. F. E. Smith, Franklin McVey, and Prof. R. M. Black. Topics cover History As An Asset, state parks at Walhalla and Abercrombie, and the organization of Richland County in 1873. An old settlers’ meeting is planned for the afternoon.

State Bankers meet in Minot select Valley City next year

The State Bankers association adjourned in Minot after two days of sessions. Officers named for the year are C. S. Kittle president, Wesley C. McDowell vice president, W. C. McFadden secretary, and W. H. Shilze treasurer. Resolutions urged conformity with prior regulations, opposed the postal savings bank, urged discouraging farm patronage of mail order houses, and called for agricultural courses in schools. A condolence was offered for W. J. Mooney and Minot was thanked for hosting. The group plans a group trip to Yellowstone Park next year.

Elevator disaster in Mandan claims worker's life

In Mandan the west end of the Lonk elevator burst Friday dumping thousands of bushels of wheat and causing extensive damage. A man found beneath the grain, later identified as J. Kelly from Duluth, died despite efforts, with authorities awaiting word from Duluth police. The body bore an employment card listing Richardson, N D. and recent liquor use noted by physicians.

Pennsylvanian Dies in Detroit Warehouse Collapse

William C. Hollar of Franklin county was killed when a section of the sixth floor at Peninsular Stove Cos. collapsed at 11 am Saturday. His body was found Sunday at 5 pm under debris on the first floor. Eugene Wentworth led workers to the body as autopsy and medical details noted fatal suffocation after severe injuries. The firm’s J. M. Dwyer mourned the loss, and pallbearers and Masons attended services at the cemetery. An unrelated ad urges Abbys grocery coupons.

Burke Elected President of Missouri River Navigation Congress

Governor John Burke of North Dakota won the presidency of the Missouri River Navigation Congress, defeating Edgar Ellis of Kansas City. The vote was decisive, with strong backing for Burke and Omaha chosen as the next convention site in December with the National Corn exposition.

State Bar to Hold Large Minot Convention in August

Local ball players freed in Sunday law case

Great Northern Officials Visit Williston City

G N officials led by W W Broughton George J Ryan and Mr Kenny of St Paul arrived Monday in their private car. They toured the experimental farm power house and other sites. They said the north branch road would be built but gave no timetable. They praised Williston as a top northwest city.
