Culbertson Montana Fire Destroys Block and Millions in Loss

Culbertson Montana suffered a major fire last Friday destroying Evans hotel and a whole business block. Owing to water shortage the blaze burned most buildings on the block while the east side of Broadway was saved by heroic effort. The loss is estimated around 125000 with limited insurance. Plans call for rebuilding a new union block on the front of the block.

Winter hours shrink as Willistone stores close early

From now until April first, Willistone stores will close at seven in the evening to give clerks and proprietors more leisure. The measure applies to most city shops except candy and drug stores, with many named retailers approving the change including Aleson, Stenehjem & Anderson and Greengard Bros.

Williston Club Seeks to Retain Prof Onstad

At a January 7 1908 Williston Commercial Club meeting a committee was appointed to interview Professor Onstad and express sincere appreciation for his work with the city and the band. The group pledged to ensure his salary as long as he leads the band. Members R Brownson B Lyon R M Calderwood.

Magician Brush Scheduled for January 30

The Lyceum Bureau course will feature Magician Brush on January 30. He comes highly recommended and ranks as a top entertainer. The Dublin Times praised his onstage lighting and baffling tricks, noting the crowd’s wide satisfaction and ongoing curiosity about the Hindoo basket gag.

Skating Contest To Be Held At Williams County Rink

Francis Anderson owner of the ice rink plans fancy skating contests. A medal will be awarded to the winner. The first contest is set for next Thursday evening open to any Williams county skater. Two judges, C C Mackenroth and H J Mensch, are confirmed. a third judge will be chosen.

Burglar Raiders Hit Walhalla In Two Break-Ins

Burglars struck Walhalla Monday night stealing about 700 dollars in jewelry. They forced open the G N depot safe but found nothing. In the jewelry store they took a large amount of jewelry and fled on a hand car.

Barber Bartholomew Injured In Dislocating Accident

Ed Bartholomew, a well known city barber working at McIntyre shop, was injured Saturday night on his way to his claim twenty four miles northwest. A buggy tip on Lampman hill threw him onto his left shoulder, which was dislocated and then reduced by a doctor. He returned to town but will not regain full strength soon.
