A busy roster of local and nearby visitors includes C A Rustad and Wayne Martin among others. Numerous residents and out-of-towners conduct business, attend court, shop, and visit friends while residents toast new births and announce prize contests and local sales.
Local items recount travel, visits, and small town happenings. Residents from Williston Ada Alexander and Minot are noted in social calls, store changes, and arrivals. Debates on taxation and regional meetings are announced, with personal notices interspersed and light humorous asides reflecting small town life.
The Winter Short Course begins January 26 and lasts eight weeks, shifting from general topics to farm related subjects such as crops accounts mechanics traction engineering veterinary soils and shop work. Attendees can also join the Tri State meeting January 19 23 and enroll the following Tuesday.
The Ladies Aid Society at the parsonage hosted New Year’s Eve experiences, sharing stories of earning coin and enjoying a luncheon. Sunday worship was praised, the choir excelled, and Mr. and Mrs. Wall conducted services at Wittenberg hospital. The executive board met Monday. The Aid group will meet with Mrs. Spears. Rev Elf Lewis Wall will preach on Divine Antidote and There is a Lion in the Way.
Edwin 8 Shaw pastor conducts 10 30 A M and 7 30 P M services in James Memorial Library. Saints School at 11 45 A M in the Library, Primary meets at Parsonage. Y S C E at 6 30 P M. Salvation Army holds 3 and 8 P M services with farewell to current officers. Coffee social January 12 and welcome officers January 15. Ensign Selma Johnson and Lieutenant Pante assume duties.
Haugus Lutheran Church invites the public to a meeting of the State Tax Association on January 13-14 in Minot. Prof A G Crane of the State Normal will discuss Wisconsin income tax. Services and Sunday School details appear in the notice.
Buford Camp No 2 of U held its second regular meeting last Saturday. The camp was organized in November 1913. The evening covered routine business, followed by social time and a lunch served.
Orpheum theatre patrons enjoyed a minstrel troupe during the first three nights of the week with two plays per evening drawing good attendance. For the coming week manager McGuinness has secured The Last Days of Pompeii films promising a moving picture treat for audiences.
