Debating Contest At Gates Opera House Monday
The high school will hold a debating contest at the Gates opera house Monday evening January 10 to pick three debaters for an interschool match about a month later. The subject favors the commission plan of city government over the mayor and council system. An admission fee of 25 cents will be charged. All are invited.

Train wreck in Trenton kills three, injures forty three
A Rock Island passenger train derailed two miles south of Trenton Missouri killing three people including two women and injuring 43 with three seriously hurt. Names listed include P Lininger and Mrs Gertruds Barmer among the dead and several others from Iowa Illinois and Michigan injured. A separate report from New York notes 30 coroners in one day with cases of murder suicide and accidental deaths while in Bismarck a man crushed between railroad cars.
