Miss Julia Newton to Speak in Williston February 25

Miss Julia O Newton Home Demonstration Agent leader of Agricultural College will speak at the Court House in Williston at 7 30 PM on February 25. She will deliver a male age about a special message for women and is described as a convincing speaker. The program will also feature Mr T A Hoverstad as a second speaker.

Mrs Frank Siewert Dies in Miles City Montana

Mrs. Frank Siewert died at her Miles City home from heart trouble triggered by rheumatism. Born Rose Tesora Hollar on April 6 1874 in White Pigeon Michigan she was active in music and church life. She leaves a husband two brothers and her father W C Hollar. Burial and funeral details are set in Miles City with services at the Congregational Church.

Williston High Defeats Stanley in One-Sided Basketball Game

Williston High School defeated Stanley High School 34 to 5 on Friday night. Despite the lopsided score, Stanley fought hard with Coach Rabe leading a solid bench. Final stats list Bruegger 3 free throws, Svinkand 3 of 4, Bruegger 7 points, Scott 4, Zabl 2, Milloy 1. Referee F W Martineau. Williston prepares for Tioga away Friday and March 7-8 tournament in Miraton, with Kenmare at home later.

Williston Home Guards Ball Draws Large Crowd

The Armory hosted a well attended masked ball by the Williston Home Guards with music by Onstad's orchestra. Attendees wore silks and rags, prizes were awarded after Lunch, and masks were removed after a grand march. The event showcased a lively mix of attendees and festive spirit. A church fundraiser follows with a musical tableau and two farces at 8 p.m. Friday in the Congregational Church basement with 25 cents admission.

Local Red Cross Serves Sailor Boys

The Williston Chapter of the Red Cross aided sailors en route to the east coast. Sixty nine sailors from Pagette Sound received sandwiches and coffee on Sunday, fifty more on No 2 with candies and postcards, and about twenty five each day on Tuesday and Wednesday. The effort left the sailors with gratitude and respect for the chapter members.

World Lutheran League Proposed for Global Unity

The Lutheran Church of America leads plans for a World League of Lutherans to aid European congregations. The National Lutheran Council supports the effort, aiming to unite 80 million Lutherans under democratic, congregational autonomy with a World Council and executive committee. Foreign missions and social reform are key shared goals.

Large North Dakota stock sale draws near in Williston

Preparations accelerate for what is described as a top western North Dakota stock sale to be held Tuesday and Wednesday. The event features Missouri Yellowstone Valley Breeders cattle, 75 head on Tuesday and 100 cattle and horses on Wednesday, with expert auctioneers Secured M. Stenehjem and H F Fink. Local merchants coordinate promotions and lodging as attendance is expected from Central North Dakota and Eastern Montana.

New broom corn industry starts in city

Local resident C D Kauffman launches broom making on a small scale and plans expansion. Despite total blindness he promotes broom corn cultivation, offering farmers seed and half of the harvested broom corn, claiming profits comparable to potatoes and noting early sales in local stores.

District games will be held March 7 and 8 at Fargo Grand Forks Minot and Bismarck. The finals occur March 21 and 22 at Grand Forks University. Nineteen eighteen rules apply. A list of districts and member schools is provided. Archie Vroman attended a Plentywood Montana dancing party with twenty nine young ladies returning early Sunday.
