Valley City Notes on high school dedication and games

President McFarland spoke at the dedication of Valley City’s new high school in Kenmare. Prof Fraysan from the Normal faculty performed in Grand Forks. Normal boys beat A C Fargo 27 to 25 and girls 14 to 3. The model school runs its own athletic association and hosted Towne City in a gym game. Dr. W A Quayle of Chicago lectured in the city Thursday.

Eli Pigot, a Black man accused of assaulting a young white woman, was seized by a mob of over 2,000 in Brookhaven and hanged from a telegraph pole near the courthouse after overpowering the Jackson military company and deputies. Two mob members were wounded in the melee.

In Arlington D. D. on February 11 H. P. Dahl a grain buyer from Lake Preston narrowly escaped severe injury when an icicle fell striking his face. A nail embedded itself under his eye leaving doctors to try to preserve his vision.

Gronna Proposes Bank Reserve Regulation Bill

Representative Gronna of North Dakota introduced a bill Monday to cut reserve deposits. It would require banks to keep five fifths on hand or in reserve centers while reducing deposited reserves from three fifths to one fifth. Some banks now deposit half their reserves would retain full resources for immediate use.
