Grand Jury Indicts NumerousBuford and Area Suspects

The grand jury returned many indictments over the past week with thirteen defendants arraigned in district court. Buford suspects face pigging malicious mischief and nuisance charges. W. W. Corbett deputy sheriff is charged with neglect of duty. editor W R Mumby known as Old Bill faces malicious mischief and obscene writings counts.

District court disposes vast civil calendar with several verdicts

In a busy week the district court disposed many civil cases and prepared for criminal dockets. Verdicts favored defendants in Maderson Krueger and Keller vs Miller, while Gerrity Stevens was dismissed with judgment for plaintiff. Corbett recovered 637.15 for train damages and Hanson 205.15 on loans. Grantier custody awarded amid adultery finding. Kingston and Barter verdicts noted. Tyler Twichel dismissed with costs. Skinde v Dochterman/Jensen continued.

Judge Finds Errors in Indictments After Grand Jury

Judge Goss halted proceedings after noting indictments were defective in form. The State may redraw indictments without rearguing evidence, saving the county hundreds of dollars and allowing continued prosecution with a new grand jury if needed. The Attorney General assisted, but errors occurred and were corrected.

Williston to Get Agricultural Experiment Station

Senator McCumber introduces a bill to create an agricultural experiment station near Williston North Dakota with a $75000 appropriation for site purchase buildings and equipment. The measure would expand the state's existing station program if enacted by Congress and signed by the President.

Odd Fellows Lodge Dedicates New Temple With Banquet

The local Odd Fellows lodge will dedicate its new temple on Wednesday evening February 26. The grand master and other grand officers will attend and participate. Committees have organized arrangements and entertainment. A sumptuous banquet will follow and a grand ball will be held led by the military branch of the order.

Governor Toole resigns as Montana governor

Helena Montana February 3 Gov J K Toole today offered his resignation to the Secretary of State to take effect April 1 Edwin Morris of Dillon will succeed him as governor Morris is the lieutenant governor Toole has twice been elected governor on the Democratic ticket and has cited health reasons for his retirement.

Williston Ladies Meet H S Girls In Northwestern North Dakota Championship

The Williston Ladies face H S girls on February 7 in what promoters call the championship of Northwestern North Dakota. Organizers urge fans to attend, restore team spirit, and buy tickets at Smith's Music store for 35 cents adults and 25 cents children.
