Appropriations for River Work Across Major Waterways

The chief of engineers calls for more than 9 million dollars for the Mississippi, about 9 million for the Ohio, over 2 million for the Missouri, nearly 2 million for the Columbia, and 1 million for the Delaware to improve and maintain these waterways in the coming fiscal year. Expenditures are deemed useful to public welfare, especially with small gasoline motor boats expanding freight and passenger transport. Recommendations include 2 million for the Missouri River stretch from Kansas City to the mouth, 150,000 between Kansas City and Sioux City, and 150,000 from Sioux City to Fort Benton, with additional funds near Williston for river bank protection.
