Cataclysmic Japan China ship collision claims 700 lives

Two Japanese a team ships collided off Chefoo China in dense fog on a Monday afternoon. About 700 people, mostly Europeans and Americans, perished as lifeboats failed to deploy and both steamers sank within minutes. A fisherman recounted the chaotic scene and frantic rescues as passengers and crew battled the sea.

Wild Man of Woods Found Dead Near Virginia

The Wild Man of the Woods was located dead in a secluded shack about 20 miles northeast of Virginia Minnesota and his body was transported to the city. A notebook bearing the name William J. Hill Massey Ontario was found in his cabin where he lived in a six by six foot brush and earth dwelling with a stone stove and tin can chimney.

TWO CENT RATE UPHELD BY SUPREME COURT

Washington reports the high court reversed a Virginia district ruling and upheld a two cent passenger rate on state business. The decision preserves the state railroad commission order. Also: Ned W. Barton pleaded guilty to four patent fraud indictments and received a three year sentence. A Pittsburgh rail wreck killed one and injured several. Richard H. Lindsay, veteran Kansas City Star Washington correspondent, died. Houston real estate man W. G. Burchfield is missing in St. Louis.
