Nogales Ariz Aug 28 An agreement to avoid further trouble followed a conference of American and Mexican officials after yesterday's border clash that killed three Americans and wounded 28. Mexican casualties are estimated 150 to 200. Captain Joseph D Hungerford and Lieut Col Fredrick Harmon among the wounded. Felix Penaloza mayor of Nogales Sonora among the dead. Firing began when a Mexican tried to cross into the United States. Barber ordered him to halt, fired no shot, Mexicans returned fire mortally wounding Corporal Barney Lotz who died at hospital. General Cabell and General Calles planned a border meeting.

Williston Lad Loses Leg in France Letter Home
Mrs M S Howe received a letter from her son Lester Howe of Company E 26th U S Infantry stating he lost a leg to a German bullet while serving on the American front. He writes from a French hospital July 23 promising to come home as soon as possible and sends thanks for his care. He is twenty years old and in good spirits reporting no room for more writing.

Voters will decide on authorizing an irrigation district contract with the Secretary of the Interior.
