Scott testified McMurray contracts could yield about $50,000,000 in property value with a 10 percent attorney fee totaling nearly $5,000,000, while additional costs to regular attorneys and possible bribes floated. Senator Gore and others questioned the appropriateness of the fees amid government promises to Indians at no cost.
Four persons died and two were injured when a southbound Chicago and Erie passenger train struck an automobile at a crossing one mile east of Rochester Indiana at 2 o clock. The deceased include Mrs. John Eckert aged 45 Miss Agnes Eckert aged 18 Miss Anna Wagner of Indianapolis and Charles Lambert aged 40 chauffeur of Logansport.
