Dentists robbed in Jamestown nationwide heist
In Jamestown North Dakota on August 3 police hunt suspects after thieves entered every dentist office in town and looted valuables. Several hundred dollars in gold and silver were taken along with about one hundred dollars in platinum plate. No clues yet.

Missouri River Mystery: Infant Found in Water Near Bakers Ferry
A box bound with rope and a 77 pound iron weight surfaced on Missouri River near Bakers Ferry, ten miles below Williston. Inside, remains of a newborn infant wrapped in a blanket with a milk bottle lay beside it. Coroner investigated, noting the weight kept the box submerged until water level rose, suggesting a deliberate dumping and a serious crime to be solved.

Two Drowned in Richland Lake
Hankinson North Dakota August 2 Two lives were lost in Lake Elsie near the city in a boat rocking accident. William Spreckles age 20 and John Barker age 18 were the victims. Several boys and girls were aboard when the boat overturned. Spreckles attempted to save his sister Emma and perished.

Children Narrow Escape From Train Near Fessenden
Emma Edinger aged 14 was bruised and three younger siblings escaped uninjured when a Soo train struck their wagon at a crossing near Fessenden North Dakota. One horse flew about fifty feet, the other forty rods on the pilot. The wagon overturned but remained intact and Emma suffered a cut heel from a board while the others were unhurt. The accident occurred as the children drove home from the city and failed to hear the fast train.

Hill offers prize for corn along Great Northern lines
James J. Hill, chairman of the Great Northern, puts up 2500 in gold as prizes for top grains and grasses grown along his railway to be shown at the National Corn Exposition in Omaha December 6 to 18. About 200 prizes will be awarded under a panel led by Prof. C. P. Bull and Prof. Thos. Shaw, with roughly 40 first prizes across wheat, oats, barley, corn, clover, timothy and alfalfa bay.

Oscar Erickson was acquitted by a Schafer jury after a one hour deliberation on the murder charge. Judge Goss presided for Judge Crawford. States Attorney Converse and A. J. Bessie prosecuted, T. S. Alleged horse rustlers taken in custody in Montana
Ki Mathews Slim Bare Pat Cannon Ed Larson and Jobo Pleasant were taken in custody by the sheriff and his deputies last Friday and brought to trial before Justice Field. Slim Bare confessed horse theft and was held to the district court while John Pleasant was released for lack of evidence. Ed Larson and Pat Cannon were bound over with bonds, and Ki Mathews was released as amendable to Montana law. The arrests followed testimonies that suggested sidestepping among the defendants to clear each other’s skirts.
