C C Mackenroth of Williams County was appointed sheriff to fill the vacancy caused by Sheriff Strom’s resignation. He will assume duties May 1. Mackenroth has lived in the county 17 years and served 12 years as city water and light superintendent. Senator W. J. Stone Dies After Stroke

Washington reports the death Sunday of Missouri senator William J. Stone, longtime chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
