Rev J H Batten of Grand Forks has accepted a call to the Congregational church in Williston North Dakota and will depart about June first with Mrs Batten and the rest of the family to assume duties. He succeeds Rev B S Shaw who recently resigned. Batten in seven years in Grand Forks has been active in civic life and lyceum work after leading Plymouth Congregational in his earlier years. He came to North Dakota from Valley City Times Herald.
The Orpheum presents Cabiria on Monday and Tuesday, a silent drama produced with an estimated cost of 250000 dollars. The 1200 scene epic employed about 5000 cast and 3000 actors with 20 elephants and hundreds of horses, following a six month Chicago run at top ticket prices. The Williston engagement marks the theater’s effort to bring the celebrated production to local audiences.
The local Rebekah Lodge held a pleasant session Monday night with Mrs Clara Sebreppu of Minot presiding as state assembly president. Two candidates were presented as the Degree Staff conferred the degree amid compliments. Supper followed and a carnation bouquet was given to Schreppa. A large attendance and a splendid time were reported. Mr A Pearson recently installed a DeLaval milk clarifier to supply clean centrally clarified milk. the device removes sediment slime and inflammatory discharges from cow milk. A blaze at Jim Snyder’s farm destroyed a barn, chicken house, hay and much property while the family was away. Joe Dodd and King Anes raced five heats with McPherson claiming the Rowe cup.
Episode 23 of the Million Dollar Mystery will be shown at the Orpheum Theatre Friday and Saturday. The two reel picture presents the complete solution and announces the $10,000 prize winner. The serial has drawn wide interest in Williston as it reveals the final chapters of the popular story.

Dr Frank English of the University spoke to a large audience at the M E Church Tuesday evening on Perpetual Achievements. The lecture was praised as one of the best ever heard in the city and enjoyed by all present.
Chas E Gordon district manager for Manhattan Life Insurance Co opened Williston office with J W Aaylor from Minot in charge. Gordon moves Manhattan offices from Union block to Heffernan block suite 18 19. Meetings announced at multiple schoolhouses with times in late April.

Harlan Page, aged 53 years 8 months 16 days, son of John Randolph, died at the home of T. M. Getchell in Hoffland after several years residence. Funeral held at Hofflund Church April 11 with large attendance, choir led by Rev. Halfpenny, burial in Hofflund cemetery.
