Arrested for grand larceny in California case

Word reached here this week that Bob Miller was arrested in Fresno for automobile theft. Miller, released from Bismarck prison about a year ago after a five year term for stealing five horses from Wm. Day of McKenzie county, was convicted for five years in Mandan after a venue change. Attorney Aaron Bessie prosecuted, and a larger bond was set. Miller attacked Bessie in Schafer hotel, breaking his jaw. California authorities may send Bessie to assist Fresno county prosecutions amid telegrams with Denver Church.

Infant of Weatherwax Dies After Brief Life

The infant daughter of Mr and Mrs H L Weatherwax born Tuesday morning died Thursday morning after living about forty eight hours. The babe was apparently doing nicely until shortly before death which came unexpectedly.

City to study year round government light and power

A government panel led by Rann J. M. Fine and other aspirants will review a proposal to supply city electricity. If adopted, government power plants could operate year round, providing continuous service.

Young Wife Katherine Elliott Dies After Short Illness

Funeral services were held Saturday for Katherine Ann Elliott born in Ontario on April 6, 1885. She moved to North Dakota in 1897, lived in Grand Forks Wheelock and Williams County, taught school, married James Elliott May 6, 1911. She is survived by her husband, her mother, four sisters and five brothers. Interment at Williston cemetery after M E Church service conducted by Rev. Beer.

Seibert Seeks Clerk Post in Republican Primary

J O Seibert is running for Clerk of the District Court on the Republican ticket in the upcoming primary on June 26. Born in Detroit and raised in Illinois, he later moved to North Dakota six years ago to Williston, where he has balanced farming and barbering. Bohemian Gil Production At Local High School

In three weeks the high school music department stages a Bohemian Gil production with chorus orchestra and soloists rehearsing the difficult score. The German print for the orchestra differs from the American revised vocal score. Prof Onstad works to reconcile the two. Tickets are sought from nearby towns for performances at the Ad Theatre on May 3 and 4.

Easter Luncheon Entertained by Mr and Mrs Edwin Palmer

Mr and Mrs Edwin A Palmer hosted about twenty four young people Tuesday evening for a four course Easter luncheon from eight thirty to midnight. Cream and white decor carried through the dining and living rooms and place cards depicted wise Minerva birds. Guests drew fortunes from a centerpiece via cream or white ribbons as rabbits pulled from a central display. Misses Jannette Craven and Edna Brant served. After lunch, games contests and music closed the evening.

Seneschal boat wrecked by ice on Fort Pierre river bank

The report from last week states the Seneschal boat of Fort Pierre was driven onto the river bank at White City by ice and broken as water fell. Captain Seneschal and the Scotty Phillip both disappeared with the ice then and are presumed lost. the Fort Pierre remains stranded but may be salvageable without removing engines.

Easter Sunday services at St Josephs drew a large congregation. The 8 30 a m singing by the junior choir was noteworthy and Miss Mabel Holland composed the mass music and served as organist and director.

Early closing movement for Williston clerks seeks six oclock finish

Clerks in Williston push for six o clock store closing to shorten thirteen hour work days. They plan a petition asking customers to support early closing except drug and confectionery shops on all days except Saturday. The Civic League Lecture and Entertainment course concludes with Man on the Box as the final number. Will H. Corbin stars as Lieutenant Warburton and Bernice Trousdale plays Betty Annesley, both receiving strong performances in a night of amusing situations.
