The Congregational People closed a deal with W B Overson to buy four lots a block north of the current church. Overson also pays the church 3000 for the church and parsonage. Plans call for a larger frame church with 500 seating capacity, to be built this summer.

March business at land office breaks records
The March month set a record for the local land office with 149 proofs and total receipts of 28734.42 dollars. Proofs and contests poured in, creating workloads beyond the current staff for the next two to three months. Five year proofs include Commutation Pro Coal, Timber and Stone proofs, and Homestead entries with the noted receipts.
Wegley Begins Concrete Block Building on Broadway
Fred Wegley started excavation for a two story concrete block building on Broadway just west of Grant's grocery. The structure will be entirely concrete, no stone. Wegley, returning from a southern trip, notes many new buildings there are also concrete and some reach fourteen stories. He plans to rent the new building for store use.
