Wegley Re elected Mayor In Wilaston Contest

Joseph Wegley wins another term as mayor of Wilaston with a majority of 47. Wegley ticket dominates, key early vote split shows Wegley and Laine tied at 50 in the first ward, Alderman Van Dyke defeats McChesney by three.

Ward County Divided by Township Line Proposal

A Kenmare committee led by Frank Hoffine and others filed a petition with Ward County commissioners seeking division along the township line between townships 159 and 158 to create Lake County in the north. The last election had 1787 votes in this area, and the petition carries over 1600 signatures. The petition was presented yesterday and, if valid, will prompt a vote and election call.

Minot men mistaken for blind pig shot in ear

Several Minot men mistook a residence for a blind pig and tried to enter Sunday. One man was shot in the ear during the incident. The building had previously housed William O Leary, about eighteen.

Gang Member Shot in Ear and Neck, Receives Medical Care

A gang member was struck by a bullet that entered the ear and lodged through the neck. He called for help, fellow gang members carried him to a doctor, then he was taken to a hospital where doctors report he is improving.

West and Rawson removed the board front from their new building on Monday revealing a fifty foot plate glass storefront. They have installed new furniture inside and claim to offer one of the most handsome store rooms in the city.

Three Henderson Children Die in Langdon Fire

In Langdon North Dakota on April 2 a house fire killed the three minor children of Mr and Mrs Herbert Henderson. The parents lost their home and all belongings while Mrs Henderson was away briefly with a neighbor when the blaze began. Neighbors rushed to rescue when smoke and flames appeared about 2 30 in the afternoon.

Tragic Fire Ends in Three Deaths Among Children

After a long delay firefighters broke into a burning dwelling to rescue imprisoned children. All three bodies were found on the floor in one room, already dead and smoking hot, with only minor burns. The house and contents were destroyed, clothing saved none. Cause unknown but suspected matches or stove in kitchen.

Patterson Loses Fight in North Dakota City Election

In Bismarck on April 1, E G Patterson of the Northwest Hotel and former mayor was badly beaten while seeking re election. Dr F R Smythe of the Good Government party won decisively and Patterson’s ally Sheriff McGillis lost his alderman bid. The Good Government party swept the minor races and residents praised the outcome after a fierce campaign.

County Board in Regular Session and New Township Creations

The county board met Monday to conduct routine business. Auditor E M Atterberry began his new term. W D Atterbery named deputy. Crosby and Kermit petitions formed villages. Three new townships organized: 161 95 and 163 96 with fractions 194 96 and 164 99 combined.

Concert Band Serenades Mayor Wegley in Williston

The Williston Concert Band serenaded Mayor Wegley on Tuesday night as citizens marched to his residence by torchlight. Mayor Wegley appeared, thanked the band, and presented a check for treats for band members and friends attending the serenade.

Easter Services Draw Large Crowds in Williston Churches

Easter day in Williston brought one of the finest springs and large crowds to city church services. Special music by the Congregational and M. E. choirs complemented addresses and sermons, with both churches reporting several new members added to their congregations.
