Tough Mudder challenges test Willard community runners
Willard residents and teams faced Tough Mudder obstacles with new and veteran competitors. Ricky Branham trained three months and tackled seven foot walls, Arctic Enema ice water, and two 10 000 watt electric shocks as part of a grueling 10 mile course. Brooke Pfefferle joined friends for motivation and described mud, high walls, and powerful shocks as the day’s toughest moments.

Fire destroys Baltimore and Ohio car shop in Willard 1958
In 1958 a fire of undetermined cause destroyed the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad car shop in Willard yard, leveling a 139 by 25 foot one story building in under an hour with an estimated $50,000 damage. Key machinery and equipment were lost, workers moved to outdoor repair, and a diesel engine switch had just begun earlier that year.
