The Texas Association of Tonsorial Artists approved a price increase effective Sept. 15. Adults will pay $2, while $1.75 and $1.50 apply to different groups, with children at $1.50. Chapter president James Allen announced the change.

With regular registration ending, 8073 students have begun registration at East Texas State University, about 400 more than last year. Full fall enrollment may rise to near 8200. final numbers expected after the 12th class day. Late registrants pay a $6 fee.
Whitewright voters head to the polls on Tuesday to decide if the City Council should be enlarged to a mayor and five councilmen from the current mayor and two councilmen. Polls run 8 a m to 7 p m at the Firemen's Hall with Carl May as presiding judge. If approved a second election will elect three additional councilmen. The ballot reads FOR Aldermanic Form of Government. AGAINST Aldermanic Form of Government. The measure would have council members elected at large, not by ward, and incumbents’ terms remain unchanged.
Rep. Al Ullman predicts President Johnson will call for about 5 billion in spending cuts to support a 10 percent surtax on income. Ullman says the administration has signaled larger cuts than the previously stated 2 billion, and committee members will not back the bill without deeper reductions. He cites informal talks with officials and notes the President must set spending priorities. No White House comment was given.
The Mary Dale Circle of Bethel Baptist Church WMU met Tuesday at 2 pm in Mrs. R. H. McKinney’s home for stewardship. Mrs. J C Wetzel led the program with a stewardship playset joined by Mrs. R E Pierce, Mrs. Wetzel, and Mrs. McKinney. Mrs. Charles Pierce directed group singing and Mrs. J P Williams offered the prayer. Five attended.
The Department of Public Safety reports 2,096 traffic deaths so far this year, down 1 percent from 2,117 at the same point in 1966. Fatal accidents total 1,726, up slightly from 1,717 a year ago.
