The National Advisory Committee on grains urged a about 12 percent reduction in feed grain acreage for next year. They anticipate lowering 1968 corn and sorghum output by about one sixth from 1967 records after two days with Secretary Freeman and U.S. agriculture officials. Whitewright voters chose aldermanic government by 179 to 137 on October 3, with 316 votes cast. The change shifts the city to five councilmen and a mayor, replacing the prior two councilmen system. The mayor’s term ends next April, with council terms expiring in 1969 and 1970. An election for three new councilmen is set for November 7 to fill remaining terms.
