The Whitewright Chamber of Commerce approved restricting first bale cotton prizes to the standard bale and endorsed a $2.5 million bond issue for county roads. Funeral services for James H. Looney 87 will be held Thursday at 2 30 p m in Cedar Methodist Church with Rev Duke Barron of Denison officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Cemetery. Looney born May 29 1870 in Rogersville Tenn came to Grayson County early and farmed in the Tom Bean Whitewright area before moving to Cleburne last June. He was a Methodist member and survived by two grandsons Joe L Galey Gatesville Jim Al Galey Arlington a granddaughter Mrs Fred Bulloch Fort Worth and three great grandchildren.

Bill McDowell Leads Whitewright in Grass Judging Victory
Bill McDowell of Whitewright achieved a perfect score of 500 to lead the Whitewright Future Farmers of America team to the senior division win at the annual grass judging contest sponsored by the Upper Elm Red Soil Conservation District in Gainesville. Tioga and Whitewright dominated top honors with high scores, while Muenster FFA and Gainesville FFA placed behind in the senior division. Meg O D e a of Flemington New Jersey laid her 354th egg in 357 days to claim a new national and possibly world record for yearly production. Lightning Can Strike Twice in Gillette Sheep Camp
