White Wright's gins had processed 2 075 bales by Wednesday night with 560 ginned since Thursday morning. The market moved up and down, ending 20 points lower this morning for a 3.00 per bale drop in two days, yet about 3.00 higher than a week ago.
Washington reports US cotton exports for August up 79 000 bales from 1932 with a value gain of 9 870 000 dollars. Shipments totaled 531 000 bales worth 27 855 000 dollars, versus 692 000 bales valued at 36 455 000 in July and 452 000 bales valued at 17 985 000 in August 1932. Large shipments went to Japan United Kingdom Canada the Netherlands and India.
Brewers from the metropolitan area joined New York and New Jersey liquor authorities in a campaign against racketeering in the beer trade. The Brewers' Board of Trade urged law abiding citizens to help, with Edward Mulrooney stating unscrupulous distributors pose the major threat and that investigations show distributors behind racketeering attempts.
Congressman Richard Kleberg of Corpus Christi will judge the Jersey show at the Fannin County fair in Bonham on September 28. The appointment was announced by fair secretary J. I. Boon. Sam Rayburn helped secure Kleberg’s services and is a Jersey breeder who plans to attend. Rayburn is expected to arrive from Washington soon.
Dr. James A. Bowen of Cisco Texas drove to Lowell with a covered wagon behind his car to purchase a pair of Lowell made shoes. He traveled 2700 miles after visiting Chicago's World Fair and stopped in Massachusetts partly to see where tea was dumped into Boston Harbor. He traveled with his wife daughter and John Alverson of Whitewright Texas.
Grayson County commissioners court approved this year’s rural school tax rates for retiring bonds and maintenance across common districts. Whitewright area rates include Pilot Grove total 75 cents, Rose Hill 75, Blanks 75, Bethel 50, District 42 50, Kentucky town 50, Tom Bean total 1.00, Ida 75, Canaan 35.

Funeral services for M. F. Flemings age 45 were conducted at his late residence 1410 Chaffin street Sherman with Rev. Claud Johnston presiding. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery Whitewright. Survived by wife Cora Flemings five daughters two living in Dallas and Sherman three sons and his mother Mrs E J Pope of Sherman and a granddaughter Cora Lee Head of Whitewright.
Ann Everheart, two, through her mother Elizabeth Touchstone Everheart, sues Virgil Montgomery and Sophie Kreuger for 10000 in Fifteenth District Court. The claim says she was struck by Kreuger’s car driven by Montgomery on May 5 on South Travis street causing a broken leg and other injuries. Dallas attorney Lucian Touchstone filed the suit.
Cleon Bullock, 25, of ten miles south of Farmersville, is in McKinney hospital with critical injuries after his team ran away while he was on a hay load. His back was broken and his body mangled as he was dragged between hay and a barn door.
Whitewright public schools began operations last Friday with buses in service Monday. A Sunday night arrival brought one school bus and one privately owned bus with twenty four private conveyances. Superintendent Smith works on contracts to secure transportation aid for eligible students. State tuition aid rides free for high school students two miles away. district 42 grade students two miles away ride free. others may ride for $1 per month.
County Agent Benny Gray delivered sixteen cotton checks totaling $2,010 in Whitewright. Grayson County farmers have received over $100,000 so far with more than $400,000 expected for cotton retirement. Additional checks went to Pilot Grove farmers, while Sherman received 145 checks totaling $14,000 for Grayson County growers in the acreage retirement program.
The State Highway Department reversed its prior plan and redesignated Highway 116 to run north to No. 5 west of Sherman, avoiding Dorchester to connect with No. 6 south. Landowners along the new route offered land cheaply, easing right of way. Delegation including county officials and Judge J. J. Loy return to await a survey by resident engineer W. Walker.
Dr. B Wrenn Webb of Tucson has accepted the pastorate of the Presbyterian Church in Whitewright and will preach his first sermon Sunday October 1. Webb, longtime Sherman pastor and former executive secretary for national missions, is welcomed as a notable addition to Whitewright. He succeeds Rev A W Yell of Whitesboro who has served as half time pastor.
Dallas reports about 25 loans to distressed Texas homeowners with 800 to 900 more in process. James Shaw, state manager, says three Texas offices will sync with Dallas headquarters to speed processing. Titles must be checked carefully and some applications corrected. 150 to 200 loans daily expected within ten days.
The county auditor J N Dickson releases a financial report as of Sept 1 showing 134320.45 in balance across funds down from 176561 on Aug 1. Receipts for August 1 total 5063.83 and warrants amount to 47523.21 with road and bridge funds divided among four precincts. Another court session is not planned until October per Judge J J Loy.
Farmersville marked the fall business season with a street celebration described as large and lively. Police cite four roll-call absences in Judge Stinebaugh's court, including one DWI charge, while a fire alarm prank led to a firefighter response before the blaze cooled.

Opening of the Canaan public school three miles north of Whitewright is announced for Monday September 25 with Mr. Rickett of Honey Grove as principal and Miss Lila Mae Smith of Canaan as primary teacher. The school will operate for eight months.
The United States remains Japan's top customer, buying about 40 to 45 percent of Japan's exports, highlighting a strong postwar trade link.
Washington report says a nationwide buy now movement to boost production and sales under the recovery program was tentatively set for Oct 1 by Hugh S Johnson. TheSept 20 start was postponed due to coal code talks. Johnson plans a direct appeal to buy under the blue eagle to cover increased costs and hunger payrolls.
Washington reports nearly 2,000,000 additional pigs will be purchased by the Agriculture Department before September 29 under the emergency corn hog plan. The move raises the guaranteed slaughter total to 6,000,000 hogs and pigs, with permits issued to original owners and shipments requiring authorization. Third round matches must finish by next Wednesday night: Ray vs Blanton, Newman vs Devenport, Barbee vs Spindle, Christian vs Hooper.
The tally in the repeal fight shows Repeal 31 to Prohibition 0 as Idaho and New Mexico approve the proposed twenty first amendment Tuesday. Virginia votes October 3 followed by Florida October 10 and six more on November 7 in North and South Carolina Ohio Kentucky Pennsylvania and Utah. If anti prohibitionists win five of these to reach 36, ratification could finish in December.
Rev A W Yell, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, will lead Sunday services both morning and evening. This will be his final week as pastor, having served half time locally and half time at Whitesboro Presbyterian Church. He was called to serve until October first when Dr Wrenn B Webb, formerly of Sherman, will become full time pastor.
Miss Mae Taylor and Mr Oliver Robbins of Canaan wed Tuesday at the home of Rev G C Ivins with Rev C Chumbley officiating. The Barrows Bonna and Alice Robbins joined in the ceremony, with Barrow siblings Alice Robbins and Oliver Robbins connected by marriage.
