Sunday school starts at 9 45 with H L Webster as superintendent. The pastor will preach morning on Sacrifice and Song and evening on Spiritual Weariness. Prayer meeting Wednesday evening and choir practice Thursday evening. All evening services at 8 o clock. Everyone is invited to attend these services. Try a Sun Want Ad.
The body of William Morton Savage, who died aboard the U S dreadnought Mexico in San Francisco Bay, was laid to rest at Vittitoe Cemetery three miles west of Whitewright. A large crowd attended the funeral with escort by discharged servicemen, and city officials offered honors noting his brave actions during the shipboard fire.
Judge Gordon Russell longtime U S District Court for the Eastern District of Texas died at a Kerrville sanatorium at 7 PM Sunday His body will be buried in Tyler where he previously lived He served in Congress from 1902 to 1910 and was known as one of the Souths greatest orators He is survived by his wife two daughters and a son and had resided in Sherman since 1910
Whitewright will be well represented at the College of Industrial Arts at Denton this year with students leaving during the week. First year attendees include Macie Montgomery Nell Montgomery Estelle Montgomery Genevieve Davidson Mary Hestand Louise LaRoe Edith Ryan. Second year includes Roberta Sloan Leona May Thrift Helen Thomas Francis Wilson. Third year features Gladys Sears Coralee Echols. Fourth year student is Nadine Holcomb.
Reverend G. R. McCraw returned from near Arlington where he conducted a revival meeting. He reports a successful gathering and twelve new names were added to the church roll during the event.
The Whitewright schools open Friday September 19 due to the death of Superintendent H L Durham's brother. Enrollment starts at 9 am with chapel at 10 30 am. Free textbooks distributed Monday. classes start Tuesday. Teachers meet September 15 at 1 pm. Parents advised not to buy books until classifying. The state provides all primary and intermediate books.
The Odeon reveals next week’s lineup with the Goldwyn release Go West Young Man starring Tom Moore. Several titles later shown in Dallas theatres are set to screen Friday September 19 and continue Saturday September 20.
Universal presents The Ace of the Saddle with Harry Carey on Monday and Tuesday September 22 and 23. The Shep herd of the Hills features an all star cast. The 13th Chair is a six part Pathe special on Wednesday September 24. Friday September 26 brings The Hoodlum with Mary Pickford in a top run shown at full Dallas houses last week.
The time for services next Sunday is Sunday school at 10 a m. Church service and Lords supper at 11 a m. Evening service at 4 15 p m. Morning discourse titled The Exalted Privilege of the Christian. Evening topic An Essential in Christian Service. A hearty welcome for all worshippers.
