Local merchants advertise numerous weekend bargains to attract shoppers. The business district, previously closed during concrete curing, is now open with better-lit side streets boosting nighttime parking and expected crowds Saturday and Saturday night.
Waco representative Lawrence Westbrook announced plans to introduce a bill in the next Texas special session to form a Texas Farm Board. The board would cooperate with the Federal Farm Board on cotton and other agricultural issues, citing delayed federal action that hurt Texas farmers.
Norwich report states a speaking tube was used to sentence Wallace Benton to death. Benton, described as extremely deaf, faced execution via this method in a historical incident.
Whitewright Texas pastors Rev W H Ackley and Rev H M Cowling condemned a Thursday street dance planned for the opening of paved business street improvements. A letter from the First Baptist Church urged the Chamber of Commerce to remove the dance from the program and protect the city’s moral welfare.

Six youths including four boys aged 19 to 20 and two girls aged 16 confessed to Sheriff T A Binford that they slugged and robbed O S Putnam, 50, at his home on the city outskirts. Putnam said they hit him with a hammer and stole $65 while he lay unconscious.

Texas farmer advisor J A Clutter, professor of dairy husbandry, says four or five cows provide a solid start for experienced milk producers. He warns that good feeding is essential, noting roughage like alfalfa hay ships well and can be a cheaper profit source than butter, as a ton of hay yields far less value.

The state authorizes motor vehicle licensing to begin January 1 1930 with enforcement of registration by February 1. Tax collectors may not issue licenses before the new law takes effect. The decision settles county fee deductions for the road fund and outlines deputy pay and fee accounting under the new statute.
The Grayson County Baptist Workers Conference will convene at the First Baptist Church of Whitewright on Tuesday November 5. Events begin at 10 a.m. with devotions and a full program on stewardship and missions led by ministers from Denison Sherman Gunter and Whitewright with lunch at noon and additional sessions at 1 30 p.m.
The town marks the opening of its paved streets with a daytime pageant and address by Congressman Sam Rayburn followed by contests. An evening program includes the Sherman Band, Judge Carter, and crowning of Queen Progress Mrs. Roby Childress.
