William Pennington aged ninety three and a Confederate veteran died at his Whitewright home after breakfast. He lived a frugal life, served in the Sixth Texas Dismounted Cavalry, and left a sizable fortune for his children. Funeral at the Presbyterian Church with Rev. J. W. Willbanks officiating and interment at Oak Hill Cemetery.

This is his second generous gift in about a year, complementing the library’s addition of about one hundred volumes this year. The Parent-Teacher Association funded around fifty volumes for both the English and Home Economics departments.

The Parent-Teacher Association met at the grammar school to celebrate Fire Prevention Week. The second and seventh grades presented plays, and plans to boost membership and attendance were discussed. Simpson Fell Cave Well Near Denison Set 6 Inch Liner
In Grayson County a 6 inch liner will be run through the 8 inch casing and cemented at about 840 feet in the Simpson Fell wildcat six miles northwest of Denison. The gas well shows oil after cementing water from a lower horizon and heavy pressure. drilling is expected to resume in 60 days with more locations planned.
