D K Roberts county tax collector announced a deputy will be at the First National Bank Saturday October 22 to receive county and state tax payments and issue receipts saving residents a trip to Sherman.
The Central Christian Church in Pattonville hosted the October sixth ceremony binding Miss Edna Rebecca Womack to Dr. Marion Lofton Patton of Memphis Tennessee. The event featured lush autumn floral decor, formal gowns for bridesmaids and guests, and a full reception at the Ray home with highlights including a Mendelssohn recessional and a double ring ceremony.
Hunt County voted 400000 in bonds by 339 majority to erect a courthouse and jail. Seven Greenville boxes gave about 800 votes. Commissioners plan to demolish the unsafe present building and select architects to begin work immediately.
President Coolidge favors tax reduction to aid economy but opposes a 400 million dollar cut as excessive. He links any tax relief to debt retirement and warns further cuts must align with government spending restraint and budget estimates. White House notes no final Congress target yet.

Washington reports American hens are laying 760 eggs a second totaling about 24 billion annually. The Department of Agriculture notes hens supply roughly 16 percent of all livestock value, behind only dairy and swine. The U S hen accounts for over a third of the world’s poultry and egg supply.
Rev J L Truett closed a deal Saturday for the brick building formerly owned by W T Truett on Main Street. The 75 foot frontage property, once housing Manning Clark Meador hardware and a Martgrum filling station, is a valuable Whitewright business site bought as an investment for above $9,000.
The Whitewright Rangers travel to Garland today at noon to meet Garland high on their home field this afternoon. Garland fields a strong football squad while Whitewright hopes for victory. Mrs Giles Cobb and children return to Leonard after visiting her parents.
Horatio C. Willis a longtime Whitewright resident died at home of a heart attack Tuesday night. He was born in 1867 in Celina Tennessee and lived 32 years in Whitewright with business roles in a drug, oil mill and ice distribution firms. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday with many relatives and local officials in attendance.
Chicago report says William Goedke 30 seized with a heart attack while piloting an Illinois Central suburban train last night. He stopped his train and collapsed, later found dead by the crew.
W Rhymes was ordered confined in the county jail for a year after a jury found him guilty in County Court at Law on a $2 worthless check charge. He claimed the seven other checks were passed by a twin brother who looks exactly like him.
J R Oliver, a noted Duroc Jersey hog breeder two miles north of town, won nineteen prizes at the Red River Valley Fair in Sherman. His hogs captured two grand championships, two junior championships, and five champions plus other awards. Also winning prizes were M Belew with honey and produce, W M Ingram with potatoes and onions, and several Whitewright area participants in poultry, textiles, and agricultural classes. Kentuckytown and Bethel entries earned cash prizes in community displays.
T E Jordan and brothers, oilfield workers from Wyoming and White Deer Texas, purchase the Hooser farm 3 miles north of Gunter for 100000 dollars. They plan to move in and operate 974 acres with multiple improvements, forming Jordan Brothers on the ranch. father E Y Jordan plans to join later.
Chester Collier of Dallas visited friends here Friday and Saturday to catch up and share news with local acquaintances.
Total enrollment in Whitewright schools stands at 385 with growth expected as the free school period begins for School District 42. The high school enrollment is 159, the highest ever, and combined enrollment for all three schools will reach about 475 when the school for negroes opens.
Purdue quarterback Ralph Welch, a Texas native from Whitesboro, starred in a 19 to 0 victory over Harvard in Cambridge. He filled for injured captain Cotton Wilcox, ran for two touchdowns, threw a 50 yard pass, and handled booting, delivering a standout varsity debut for the Hoosiers.
Fifty thousand pounds of cement hauled by fifteen trucks to the Simpson Fell gas well near Denison and Pottsboro. Cementing crews mix with water and force into the well, then wait seventy two hours before testing to determine if the gas sands can be saved. Major companies monitor the operation and await the test to report results.
