A Whitewright native and widow of W B Penn she died Sunday in the Masonic Home Arlington where she had lived since 1949. She married in 1914 in Springfield Mo and was a member of the First Christian Church. She is survived by two nieces Mrs Margaret Grimes Durant Okla and Mrs Sidney Blankenship Houston.

New Jobless Pay Plan Ready for Ex Servicemen
The Labor Department announced a new unemployment compensation program for veterans with peacetime service will start Oct. 27. Forty two states including Texas have signed to participate, with others to follow. Eligible ex servicemen must have begun service after Jan 31 1955 or be honorably discharged before Oct 27 1958. States will distribute the benefits, averaging about 31 dollars weekly, to roughly 2.8 million veterans, expanding unemployment coverage to 45 million workers.
