Fred Moore Truett once of Whitewright now of Waco has been commissioned a lieutenant in the army. He earned his commission at Camp Sheridan near Chicago after study at Baylor University. He then served as an instructor at Vanderbilt University in the training camp there. He is the son of Mrs. J. H. Truett and has made excellent records in school and in military service.

Last Friday near Glory a farmer and wife were away to Paris. Sisters-in-law placed a dummy under a bed with jumpers and shoes exposed. On return a crowd believed a burglar hid there and fired at the dummy, ruining a $6 pair of shoes before realizing it was a fake.
