Miss Emmagene Sears, a high school student, fell from a moving car near the Presbyterian Church at noon after students crowded the running boards. Turner Leslie 74 a longtime Van Alstyne resident died at a Sherman hospital. Funeral services were held at the Van Alstyne Methodist Church. He was born January 10 1855 in Old Mantua Collin County and moved to Van Alstyne in 1873. He was known as a community Samaritan with many acts of kindness. Surviving are a brother former Sherman mayor Will Leslie a sister Mrs J N McKinney and other relatives.

The Lucile Watson Sunday school class of the Methodist Church met Thursday at Mrs. J. M. McFerrin’s home with hosts Mrs. Lackey and Mrs. McFerrin. After a brief business session, Mrs. Howard Kilgree sang a vocal solo. Guests enjoyed bingo and refreshments for twelve attendees.
The Presbyterian Church announces Rev. E. H. Coston of Honey Grove will occupy the pulpit Sunday morning and evening. The church currently has no pastor as Rev. J. W. Willbanks resigned Oct. 1 after two years in the role.
The Fidelis Class of the Baptist Sunday school held a business meeting to discuss class activities and upcoming events. Members reviewed plans, shared progress on a charity drive, and set a date for a fellowship gathering.

By 6 pm Wednesday Whitewright gins had processed 4,009 bales of cotton. A week earlier 3,465 bales had been ginned, totaling a weekly gain of 544. Predictions surge that season totals may top 5,000 and possibly exceed 5,500 bales before season end.
Elias W. Neagle, 59, longtime Sherman resident and former blacksmith turned lawyer, died Saturday afternoon. Funeral services were Sunday at the Daniel-Scott funeral home in Sherman, with Dr. J. A. Ellis of the First Baptist Church presiding. Survived by his widow Nannie Neagle, four brothers and two sisters. had previously lived in Whitewright.

F. Blanton.
