New Street Lights Come On In City Lighting Upgrade
Twelve of the twenty one new street light standards were placed in use Tuesday night with nine more to be activated after awnings are cut back. Seventeen will line Main Street from Katy station to the Telephone building, with two on Bond Street and two on Sears Street. The 13 foot high white globe lights promise improved parking illumination and a brighter business district as the new system spaces lights one hundred feet apart.

Woman Dies After Sherman Car Crash
The body of Lydia Kelton, 34, died at a Sherman hospital at 11 15 p m Monday from injuries in a wreck five miles west of Sherman Saturday. Her mother, who also was injured, was moved to Hot Springs Arkansas by family. Both women were picked up after the accident and brought into Sherman by a local citizen.

Whitewright reports 3460 bales ginned to Wednesday afternoon, 825 more than last week’s period of the season. Farmers are finishing picking, with many saying they will soon clear fields. Gins remain busy and receipts may exceed 5000 by season end. Prices: 18 cents for most cotton, some long staple at 19 cents. Seed prices steady at 31 and 41 dollars per ton.
